Participant Code Of Conduct

BOYFL strives to enforce standards of good behavior and fair play. It is expected that all participants in the Football and Cheer programs will exhibit the highest levels of good sportsmanship. Coaches, teammates, officials, and opponents must be treated with the utmost respect. The Participant Code Of Conduct outlines the expectations for all of our athletes, and must be signed and submitted at time of registration. If you feel that any participant has not lived up to this standard please bring it to the attention of the team's coach. If needed, any disciplinary action will be escalated to the league board, whose decision will be final.

Parental Code Of Conduct

The coaches and staff of BOYFL are all volunteers. We do our best to treat each child fairly and give them the best experience possible. Our competitors within the league strive to do the same. All family memebers and friends should give coaches, teammates, officials, and opponents the utmost respect, as this will set the best example for our athletes. While we think very highly of all the families who participate in the BOYFL program, Pop Warner has advised us to establish a separate set of guidelines for the parents and guardians of our participants. The Parental Code Of Conduct outlines the expectations for the parents and guardians for all of our participants, and must be signed and submitted at time of registration. We appreciate all that you do to help us uphold these standards. If you feel that any adult has not lived up to this criterion please bring it to the attention of the team's coach. If needed, any disciplinary action will be escalated to the league board, whose decision will be final.

Practice Requirements

Practice is an important part of each athlete meeting their obligation to their teammates, and is vital to the successful performance of the team. Each athlete entrusts his or her teammate to make the same high-level commitment to the team, which is one of the key values we can teach our paricipants. Practice is 5 days a week during the month of August, and 3 days a week once the season begins. While these days are set for the most part, they can change due to the needs of host school, inclement weather, or participation in football playoff or cheer championship competitions. Please consider whether or not you can meet this commitment prior to registering for BOYFL. Athletes who consistently miss practice, or are late for practice, may be benched and/or suspended from the league. Authorized absenses will be given for any scholastic requirement, as BOYFL is part of the Pop Warner Little Scholars program.

Volunteer Requirements

Each parent or guardian needs to commit 10 hours to the league. Please see the Calendar for dates and locations. The following assistance is needed for each event: The number of volunteers we need has not yet been assigned. Football Games - Each home football game requires 14 volunteers. Each volunteer involved with on-field game activites must check in with their team's head coach 15 minutes prior to the start of the game. Announcer - Requires a good understanding of the game and officiating signals; must be fair and treat both teams equally. Score Board Operator - Requires a good understanding of the game and officiating signals. EMT - Must be a doctor, nurse, EMT, or firefighter with appropriate first aid and CPU certification. Chain Gang - 2 volunteers to hold the first down chain and 1 volunteer to hold the down marker. MPR Tracker - 2 volunteers needed to track player participation. Each player must participate in a minimum number of plays depending upon the size of the team (Mandatory Player Rule). A volunteer from the home & visitor team tracks this for each team. This is the only volunteer position that must be filled for both home and road games. Snack Shack - 5 volunteers are needed to sell & prepare food. Shifts are broken down at 2 hours/shift. Merchandise Booth - 2 volunteers are needed to sell merchandise and take orders. Shifts are broken down at 2 hours/shift.

Peninsula League Football playoffs

We'll know how many volunteers we need once seedings and locations are determined.  If we advance to this round we'll know how many volunteers we need a couple of weeks before the competition. You can buy out of this commitment, but we encourage your participation in league activities. If you miss any of your chosen dates your child may be benched and/or suspended for the remainder of the season and not be allowed to return the following year.
